Walter Joseph "Peanut" Baird, 100, Bolivar, went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2025, at Indiana Regional Medical Center. A cherished lifelong resident of Bolivar, he was born November 13, 1925, the son of the late William and Amelia (Clark) Baird. Also preceded in death by beloved wife of 57 years Susiemma "Susie" (Boring) Baird; son-in-law Charles Clark, sister Matha McClarren, and brothers Harry "Perry", Thomas, Russell, Clark, John, Charles and Robert Baird.
Walter lived a life rich in hard work and devotion to his family and community. He was an active member of First Church of Christ in West Bolivar. A dedicated coal miner for 44 years, first at Heshbon, then Ehrenfeld, and ending his mining career at Florence #1. He often said he'd still be mining coal if he could. He continued to live in the home that he built for his family. Many will remember him from when he and his wife Susie would help at Clark's Garage and working with his son-in-law at the family farm.
Walter will be remembered for his gentle spirit, and the profound love he held for his family. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Linda Stull and husband Robert. A proud grandfather, Walter, leaves behind 3 grandchildren Dr. Joseph Clark and wife Becky, Cindy Adams and husband Rob, and Zachary Stull and wife Joanne. His legacy continues with nine great-grandchildren: Amanda, Alex, Elizabeth, Rachel, Sarah, Charlynn, Bailee, Ben and Walter, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy and blessed him with 18 great-great-grandchildren.
