Gertrude "Trudy" L. DeRubis, 77, Armagh, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 31, 2019.  She was born on August 10, 1941 in Salem, New Jersey.  She is preceded in death by parents John F. and Mary Gertrude (Mitchell) Wagner and husband Gilbert L. DeRubis.  She is survived by daughters Amy Dabbs of Johnstown and Jill DeRubis of Armagh; Grandsons Mitchell DeRubis and partner Rachael Masterson of Pittsburgh; Ryan Dabbs and partner Haley LaMont of Pinellas Park, Florida; Ethan Dabbs of Johnstown; and granddaughter Ellory Dabbs of Johnstown.

Trudy was a graduate of IUP and taught for 39 years, primarily as a Remedial Reading Specialist at United Elementary School in Armagh.  She was a long time member of the PSEA and served as President and Vice President for many years.  Trudy was a director on the United School Board for 16 years, where she also served as President and Vice President.  She also served as a member of the ARIN Intermediate Unit 28 Board.  She was an avid reader and a member of the Red Hats and had a devoted group of friends that she cherished.

Friends received 2-4 PM Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh, where a celebration of Trudy's life will be held at 8 PM Monday.  Grave site service 11 AM Tuesday.
