Shirley Burkett

Shirley Burkett, 82, Bolivar passed away December 13, 2025, at IRMC. Born July 13, 1943, the daughter of late Harry "Perry" and Cecelia (Krebs) Baird. Also preceded in death by sons Wayne and Timothy Burkett, grandsons Michael Gunter and Jacob Burkett, brother Perry William Baird, and in-laws Wilbert "Mac" and Nora Jean (Boyle) Burkett, and brother-in-law Ronald Burkett.

Survived by loving husband of 62 years Wayne Burkett, daughter Kimberly Gunter and husband Michael, Bolivar; grandchildren Brittany Walker and husband John, Robinson; Dylan Burkett and wife Karly, New Florence; Noah Burkett and wife Megan, Derry; great grandchildren Kylee Walker, Mikaela Walker, Kaylan Burkett, Dawson Burkett, Chad Gunter, Blake Gunter, Elina Burkett, and Eliza Burkett; sisters Briget Critchfield and husband Jim, Ligonier; Karen Shellhammer and husband Leonard, Webster, NY. Also, many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a retired psych aide from Torrance State Hospital and member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #1488, Blairsville, Moose Lodge Indiana . She enjoyed her plants, gardening, crocheting, and was a fan of Elvis Presley. Shirley loved animals, especially her dog Oreo and cats Sylvester and Elvis.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence where service will be held 11 AM Friday. Interment Bolivar West View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to your local animal shelter.
