Obituary

Slick, Ruth Etta, 91, New Florence passed away May 29, 2016 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana. Born October 9, 1924 in Heshbon the daughter of the late Harry Lester Campbell and Serulah (Townsend) Campbell Swan. Also preceded in death by husband Fred Earl Slick; brother Kenneth H. Campbell. Survived by son Fred M. Slick and wife Mary Anne (McGinley), Parker, CO. Ruth Etta was a 1944 graduate of Conemaugh School of Nursing, former school nurse at Laurel Valley High School and a state nurse. She was a founding member of Laurel Valley Ambulance Service who served as one of the first nurses on the ambulance, also a member of the New Florence United Methodist Church, New Florence Women's Club where she was active in providing medical equipment for many in the community, Laurel Valley Senior Citizens and served on the New Florence Community Development Committee along with various other community activities. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 Friday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence where service will be held 11 AM Saturday, Pastor Sharon Hamley officiating. Internment Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either Laurel Valley Senior Center, PO Box 366, New Florence, PA 15944 or Laurel Valley Ambulance Service PO Box 862, Connellsville, PA
