Roger Stanley Costello

Roger S. Costello, 77, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, surrounded by family at his home in Buffington Twp, Pennsylvania.

Born at home on May 1st, 1949, in Brush Valley, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Stanley and Cora (Hill) Costello.

Roger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cecilia Costello, and their three children, Adrina Lin Reinard, Roger Lee Costello, and Aron Keith Costello-Harris. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jade, Amara, Mason, Ember, Flin, Malakhi, and Verity.

In addition to his parents, Roger is preceded in death by his sister, Dora Costello, brother, Larry Costello and brother-in-law, Blair McCunn. He is remembered dearly by his living siblings, Rhoda McCunn, Harry Costello (Josephine), Wayne Costello (Holly), and Linda Adams (Doug) as well as their children.

Roger Costello was a graduate of United Jr. Sr. High School, class of 1968. He was employed by a local steel company as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for over 28 years. While employed there, he received his Maintenance Trainee Diploma from the International Correspondence School in 1977. In 1997, Roger earned his Associate's degree in Specialized Technology in the Automotive Technics and Management Program from WyoTech. At the same time, he earned the Director's Award for having the highest grade point average in the program. Due to a work-related injury that left him unable to continue working, he spent much of his later life with family, creating priceless memories and passing along the knowledge he had gathered throughout his life.

Roger cherished the time he spent with his children, frequently taking them on fishing and hunting trips. He also enjoyed bowling, roller skating, playing marbles, checkers, and most of all, family cookouts with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Undeniably, his favorite activities were anything that resulted in spending time with family. Most notably, his children and grandchildren fondly remember countless Sunday family gatherings, a time of connection and memory-making, days that were cherished by Roger, as well to as his family.

In addition to his family, Roger spent much of his late life with his beloved dog, Duke. His children and grandchildren warmly remember the praises Roger would sing regarding Duke. He forged countless memories with Duke, ones of joy and laughter.

A special thanks to 365 Hospice staff for their reliable and devoted care. The nurses were phenomenal; they were affable, kind, and compassionate towards Roger and our family. We are forever grateful for the care and support they provided.
