Obituary

Michael McClure passed away on Monday November 21, 2016 and the world lost a very very good man. Mike was the first-born son of Joe and Helen McClure and grew up in the 1950's in the small rural American town of Robinson. There will be no viewing or service mainly because Mike would not have wanted either but also because he spent most of his life living on the west coast which is where most of his friends still reside. I, his sister Melanie, have been talking to some of his old and new friends, folds that had worked with him and some just casual acquaintances. I totally agree with most frequent descriptors used by these folks (but I keep the honor of being the one who loved him the most for myself). Intelligent – I can attest to that, he was always very methodical and logical in his approach to any situation and, he could finish the Sunday NY Times crossword all by himself! Funny – Mike had the most wry sense of humor of anyone I've ever known. Sensitive – his career was in the medical technology field. Whether this made him especially attuned to others pain and suffering or whether it was an innate trait could be debated, but I know he tried to minimize any discomfort whenever he could. Gentle – genuinely would no intentionally hurt any living thing. An excellent example is that animals loved him, all animals. They could sense he had no ill intent and trusted him immediately. Finally, just an all-round nice guy who wou7ld do anything for you without expectation of acknowledgement or even thanks. I for one am devastated by this loss. He was truly a gentle man and is sorely missed. Say no in grief he is no more – but live in thankfulness that he was. (Hebrew Proverb)
