Ruth Wynn
December 27, 1935 - June 4, 2026
A lifelong resident of Bolivar, PA Ruth was a proud stay at home mom. After the death of her husband Alex, and losing their home to the Johnstown flood the same year (1977), she rebuilt a family home where she raised 7 children and babysat 14 grandchildren.
Her door was always open as many times over the years she took in friends that needed a safe place to stay. She would always say “I’ll just throw 1 more potato in the pot” and she always made it work. Nobody was ever turned away.
Ruth loved to have a good time with family and friends. She enjoyed dances at the VFW and Legion, going to the beach, lottery scratchers, Skip-Bo games and above all…Christmas. Specially Santa himself and all of the lights. She would start decorating in October each year. If it didn’t move, she put lights on it!
At 80 years old, Ruth started working for Achieva in Greensburg where she would chaperone differently abled individuals on outings: dining out, movies, bowling, etc. she loved her job and her clients. She “retired” at age 89.
Ruth’s greatest treasures were her family and she as so proud of them all. She insisted everyone come together for the holidays and when her home could no longer accommodate the growing family, she rented a hall so all could come. She always made sure to extend the invitation to extended family, in laws and friends. The more the merrier!
Ruth loved her family with her whole heart.
Her passing at 90 years old leaves a huge hole in all of their hearts. Preceded in death by her husband Alex and son in law, Larry McIlhattan, she is survived by her children: Nancy McIlhattan; Glenn Wynn (Sharin); Karen Wynn; Dave Wynn (Jean); Donna Davis (Ricky); Diann Wynn; Dan Wynn (Molly).
14 Grandchildren: Dennis, Andrew, RJay, Jarid, Kelsey, Jeramie, Stefanee, Allie, Jamie, Casey, Mason, Tanner, Calin, Wyatt
11 Great Grandchildren: Zachary, Ethan, Christian, Preston, Crew, Aiden, Eden, Scarlett, Keith, Deacon, Renleigh, and 1 more on the way.
Friends received 3-7 PM Monday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence where service will be held 11 AM Tuesday. Interment Fort Palmer Cemetery.
