McDermott, June A., 92, Robinson and most recently Beacon Ridge in Indiana; went to be with Lord Monday August 31, 2015 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born July 26, 1923 in Robinson the daughter of late John G. and Viola J. (Ayres) Cowperthwaite. Also preceded in death by husband of 68 years Charles "Chuck" J. McDermott who died November 11, 2014. Survived by several sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family members. June was a member of Bolivar United Methodist Church; who served her country as a Navy WAVES; an active member of Charles Sutton American Legion Post 128, Bolivar; long-time book-keeper, volunteer and Ladies Aux. member of Duane Boring V.F.W. Post 9310, Robinson; she was very active with the D.O.V. in assisting with military funerals and a retired legal secretary for Attorney James Mayer. June was honored as Person of the Year for Indiana County in 2008. She also was a passionate animal lover who adored her cat. Friends received 5-8 pm Thursday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St, New Florence where service will be held 11 am Friday, Ronnie Gardener CLM officiating. Private interment Blairsville Cemetery. Military rite by local veteran's organization.
