Moore, John J., 79, New Florence passed away July 4, 2011 at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. Born July 4, 1932 in New Florence the son of late John E. and Mary (Chesla) Moore. Also preceded in death by first wife Betty (Heap) Moore and son Kevin Moore. Survived by wife E. Ruth (Walukas) Moore; children John Jr. and wife Barbara (Peach) Moore, Watertown, WI; Shannon and husband Patrick Metcalfe, Laughlintown; James and wife Cindy (Ritenour) Moore, and Erin and husband Robert Horrell, both New Florence; Thomas and wife Sandy (Custer) Moore, Seward; Mary and husband Daniel Munsell, Sandown, NH; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Caroline Griffith, Louise and husband William Nesmith, both New Florence. He retired from Florence Mining Co. and was a skilled carpenter by trade. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward and the former St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Florence. John loved hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. Sonny Moore was a gifted athlete who will be well remembered for his football prowess. Friends received 2-4 and 6-9 pm Thursday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward.
