Joan Ruth (Hoffman) Moses, 52, of Armagh passed away July 9, 2011 at UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh. Joan lost a brave battle to cancer. Born January 30, 1959 in Johnstown, she was preceded in death by her parents John Roy Hamer and Hazel Pearl Hamer. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 26 years Leo Paul Moses Sr.; daughter Deanne Hicks of Virginia and Emily Moses at home also by sons Leo Moses Jr. of Indiana, PA and John R. Moses at home; step-son Michael P. Moses of Johnstown; and step-daughter Stacy Tavalsky also of Johnstown; and by her grandchildren Michael, Lexi, Alyssa, Derek, Alleighona, Kiasia, JoLyssa, Shaun and soon to be with us Carter whom she loved dearly. Joan was employed by Indiana County Community Action Program as Fiscal Director. Joan was very active in community service where she volunteered freely. Joan will be sadly missed by all of those who knew her. Friends received 5-9 pm Monday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh. Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward. Rev. Robert Washko officiating.
