Jesse McGarvey

Jesse A. J. McGarvey, 80, Blairsville, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 7, 1945, in Robinson, the son of the late James & Martha (Dodson) McGarvey. Also preceded in death by sisters Kathleen Rooney and Donna Gump, brother Jay McGarvey, and daughter-in-law Amber McGarvey.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Mary McGarvey, and his three sons, Sean McGarvey, Indiana; Bill McGarvey and wife Carla, Virginia; and Mike McGarvey, New Kensington. Grandchildren Lauren Perry, Kiera McGarvey and Khloe McGarvey, and great granddaughter Harper Perry. Brother David McGarvey and wife Louise, New Jersey. Special nephew Jim Gump and his wife Wendy, along with several other nieces and nephews.

As a proud veteran of the United States Navy, Jesse served his country with honor during Vietnam as an Aviation Electronics Technician Third Class (AE3). Jesse also enjoyed hunting, fishing, flint napping, wood working, target shooting, and reloading. He always kept quite busy.

Friends received 1 pm until time of memorial service 2 pm Tuesday December 16, 2025, at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence. Pastor Paul Lint officiating. Military honors by US Navy and Blairsville Military Honor Guard. Private inurment Bolivar West View Cemetery.
