Gladys Jane Eicher

G. Jane Eicher, 79, New Florence, passed away suddenly on July 16, 2026, at home. Born December 30, 1946, in Johnstown, the daughter of the late James and Gladys (Laughner) Deemer. Also preceded in death by twin infant brothers Carl and Clyde; brothers James (Anna) Deemer and Charles (Nancy) Deemer. Nieces and Nephews Kelly, Pamela and Randy Deemer; son-in-law Mark Black; and is reunited with her precious dog Elwood.

Survived by husband of 50 years John Eicher, children James Eicher, William Eicher, Tina Black, Julie (Richard) Hood. Grandchildren Alyssa, Aimee, Abigail and Jace. Nephews Brian and Russell; niece Peggy, and special friend Betsy.

Jane was an avid reader and enjoyed relaxing by doing projects such as painting by numbers, gardening, being in her flower garden or simply shopping. Her greatest joy came from her family and all her pets.

Jane was a 1964 graduate of Laurel Valley High School and a 1966 graduate of Westmoreland School of Nursing where she received her RN and received a Bachelor of Education at IUP.

A retired RN, she served at many levels in the nursing profession, a former director of nursing at Bethlen Home until 1992 she moved on to Westmoreland Manor and held the position of In Service Coordinator until her retirement in 2010.

Friends received 2-4 and 6PM till time of service at 8PM Monday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence. Rev. Dr. J. Paul McCracken officiating.
