George Nicholas Shaftic, 80, New Florence passed away September 9, 2020 at home. Born May 10, 1940 in Robinson the son of late Nick P. and Mary Clarissa (Nixon) Shaftic. Also preceded in death by wife Doris Jane "Cookie" (Gordon) Shaftic, infant grandson Mark Thomas Fry, infant sister Betty Jean Shaftic. Survived by loving wife Betty Jean Riley, devoted father of daughter Kelly Fry and husband Brian, Armagh; son Shawn Shaftic and girlfriend Sherry Hribar, Bolivar; daughter Misty Bhatnagar, Greensburg; devoted grandfather of Tessa, Maya, Shawna, Logan, Garrett and Melina, brother Paul Shaftic and wife Kathy, Montana; Peg Betz and husband Dave, Bolivar. George served in the US Air Force from 1959 to 1962 as an Air Policeman. He was a retired millwright turned foreman for Bethlehem Steel from 1962 to 1982. George was known for his storytelling, being a McDonald's Connoisseur, his mechanical abilities and he had a love of camping and travel. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at Kenneth A.
