Verba, Frank J., 93, Armagh, passed away May 20, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Born November 10, 1922 in Wehrum the son of late Joseph and Mary (Spis) Verba. Also preceded in death by sisters Josephine Marcus, Jennie Hurt and Lula Sammartano, brothers Charles and John Verba. Survived by wife of 68 years Mary (Ananea) Verba; children Frank A. Verba and wife Diana, Roseville, Calif.; John Verba and wife Barbara, Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren Julia Haigh and husband Kevin, Marietta, Pa.; Kristen Robertson and husband Adrian, Brandon, Fla.; Danielle Verba, Armagh; Alysha Verba, Latrobe; Anthony Verba, Roseville, Calif.; Tim Townsend, Tampa, Fla.; Jana Townsend, Claremont, Calif.; Jessica Verba; Catherine Verba; Bennett Verba, all of Alexandria, Va.; great-grandson Jaden Saxton; brother Leon Verba, Vintondale; sisters Kathryn Hugar, Ebensburg; Elizabeth Faucett, Virginia. Frank was a member of Holy Family Catholic, Seward, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and was very active in numerous other church activities, dinners, picnics, fund raisers and especially with bingo at the former church hall. Also the United Area Senior Citizen's where he would also volunteer, and the former United Area Lions club where he was a Melvin Jones Award recipient. Long-time member of UMWA and a retired coal miner and US Army Veteran of WWII. Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at the Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Tuesday at Holy Family Church, 425 Bridge St, Seward. Internment Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
