Daniel K. "Boone" Short Sr., 75, Bolivar passed away peacefully at home January 16, 2013. Born July 28, 1937 in Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington, D.C., son of late Kathryn and Washington Gill. Also preceded in death by loving wife Patricia J. (Colbert) Short, brothers Ed and Jim Wagner. Survived by children Daniel K. Short Jr., Bolivar; Randy Short and wife Janie, Clyde; Jeff Short and wife Maryann, Suffolk, VA; Lisa Durler and husband David, New Florence; grandchildren Greg McCully and wife Lori, Chicora; Garrett Short, Clyde; Eden Dunham and husband Chris, and Sydney Short, all of Suffolk, VA; Brittany Hansen, Tayler Hansen and Hunter Durler, all of New Florence; great-grandchildren Myles and Blake McCully, both Chicora. Boone was a retired coal miner, and member of Bolivar American Legion who was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 pm Saturday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence, where service will be held 2 pm Sunday. Pastor James Sunseri officiating. Interment Germany Lutheran Cemetery.
