Charles E. "Kowabunga" Banko, 74, Johnstown, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020. Charles was born February 7, 1945 in Johnstown, the son of late Frank and Mary (Golby) Banko. Also preceded in death by daughter Paulette E. Banko and brothers Kenneth and David "Bing" Banko, and sister Linda Fogel. Survived by loving wife of 52 years, Jennifer (Katcher) Banko; sons Douglas Banko and fiance Carla, Wylie, TX; Charles Frank Banko, Johnstown. Sisters Dorothy Mundorf, Bolivar; Ethel Banko, Canton, MI; Claire Steipen and husband Ted, Johnstown; Margaret Gyure and husband Ron, New Florence; Gloria Brown and husband Tim, Armagh; brother Donald Banko and wife Pat, New Florence; sister-in-law Trish Banko, Seward; brother-in-law Ed Fogel, Johnstown. Also feline companions Mollie and Blackster. He was well known for his garden and home grown garlic. An avid hunter who enjoyed bingo and a retiree of Bethlehem Steel Gautier works. Friends received 1 pm till time of service 3 pm Tuesday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh. Pastor Joseph Walls officiating. Interment Armagh Cemetery.
