Smith, Barry W., 69, Johnstown passed away August 17, 2014 at Rosewood Personal Care. Born April 20, 1945 in Indiana the son of late Clarence and Julia Claire (Walbeck) Smith. Also preceded in death by sister Norma Jean Palmer and brother Gary Smith. Barry was a retired employee of the Hiram G. Andrews Center, Johnstown where he continued to work as a volunteer to help with student activities. Barry enjoyed fishing, especially with staff and students at the center and yearly fishing trips to Potter County with friends. He loved to collect trinkets that nobody else wanted and found delight in shopping at flea markets and second hand stores. He enjoyed listening to his country western music favorites, Charlie Pride, Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash. Watching movies was a favorite past time, admiring the movies of John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Barry enjoyed the freedom of travel on Cam-Tram and lived life with the help of special friends and acquaintances. He was a kind and good hearted person who touched the lives of many people. Barry was a true friend to all who knew him and was willing to help anyone, whether it was stranger or someone he knew. His smile, witty personality and his unconditional love for people will always be remembered by many. Resided at Rosewood Personal Care, Barry was cared for by a staff of caring and compassionate people. He was also blessed with special care of staff from Windber Hospice. Friends received 2-4 and 6 till time of service at 8 PM Wednesday at Kenneth A Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence. Rev. R. Kenneth Keiper officiating.
